Operations
Waterhope Foundation provides all the materials needed for the successful operation of each water station, from personnel to market strategy to sales. It will continue to provide support, training and oversight to ensure that the water station will be profitable and sustainable.
Each water station shall recruit local residents from the community it serves, train them as water dealers, and provide them additional income plus incentive schemes to motivate them to bring in sales. More than the income, the skills the dealers learn are incredibly valuable and helpful should the time come for them to seek other opportunities.
Community Development
Waterhope recognizes that each community it serves has unique needs and issues, which it aims to address with its community development program.
It also harnesses its partner organizations’ community development programs to ensure that they are tailor-fit for the communities they serve. Because of this wide network of resources, Waterhope is able to implement a wide variety of activities, such as:
· Medical/surgical and dental missions
· Legal missions
· Weekly medical services
· Education on health, hygiene and sanitation
· Advocacy programs that empower children, youth and women
· Skills development, leadership and issues based solutions through community driven development plans identified, implemented and managed through focused community groups
· Literacy programs for students and out of school youth
· Feeding programs
· Business development
· Increased Microfinance and livelihood opportunities
· Location for borrower centre meetings
In giving back, Waterhope not only helps improve the residents’ quality of life; it also seeks their active participation so they themselves will grow to love their own community and be motivated to make it better, strengthening their ties with each other in the process.
